Markovski who joined the club as an assistant to Barbieri in 2017 after crossing over from Hume City will embark on his first journey in the top job when takes his Avondale team to the field for the 2019 NPL Victorian season which begins in February.
Former Dandenong Thunder head coach Andy Vargas will join him as Markovski’s right-hand man after guiding the Thunder through the first half of their 2018 campaign back in the top flight of Victorian football before leaving in June.
Vargas brings a wealth of experience to Avenger Park and has had a decorated career as a player at Green Gully during their championship years in the early 2000s as the NSL with the likes of Carlton SC, Gippsland Falcons, and Melbourne Knights.
Joining Vargas as an assistant will be newly-retired midfielder Jeff Fleming who called time on his 18-year playing career after this year’s campaign.
Fleming, who also won titles with Vargas at Green Gully joined Avondale in 2015, finishes his playing time at Avenger Park with 104 appearances which also included three goals. Capped for New Zealand on the International stage three times, the 39-year-old will be hoping to begin a successful career in the coaching department.
Rounding out the senior coaching staff for 2019 are under 20s coach Adam Inglese and goalkeeping coach Robert Brian who both continue their respective roles.
Inglese will be hoping to build on a successful season with the 20s having notched some impressive wins towards the back-end of 2018.
Avondale FC hopes the new additions will help the club meet expectations in 2019.
