Match Day 13 – PREVIEW

Avondale are set for another blockbuster clash this weekend when they take on the Bentleigh Greens at Avenger Park on Saturday afternoon.

The match is the fourth in what have been a mega three weeks for the Avengers, having already faced off against fellow top-six teams Heidelberg and Altona, as well as Preston in the FFA Cup.

Avondale have emerged undefeated from those games, but will face another tough test in Bentleigh this weekend.

The Greens sit third on the table but have struggled this year against the league’s top teams, having only beaten two sides in the top half of the table.

Bentleigh will be forced to deal with a change at the top, with head coach John Anastasiadis stepping down from the role to take up a position in the A-League.

The Azzuri have two record streaks on the line entering the game – they are on a club-record unbeaten run and still haven’t trailed at any stage this season in over 1,200 minutes of football.

A result on Saturday would also see the Avengers enter the second half of the season undefeated.
