Match day 16 – PREVIEW

Avondale will be looking to snap their winless streak this weekend when they take on Kingston City at The Grange Reserve on Saturday night.

Despite Kingston sitting last on the ladder with only two wins in 15 games this season, the match looms as a crucial game for the Avengers.

The Azzurri will enter the fixture in the midst of a poor run of form, having failed to win in any of their previous five games, and have seen their lead on top of the table cut to just three points.

On paper Kington look like an easy opponent – they sit last in the league and have scored the equal-fewest goals this season – but their recent form suggests they could be a tougher adversary than their ladder position suggests.

Kinston claimed a 2-0 win over Dandenong Thunder last weekend and recently earned draws against top-six sides Hume City and Melbourne Knights.

The fact that they currently sit in the relegation zone could serve as extra motivation for City, with the club desperate for points to ensure their NPL survival.

Avondale will be just as determined to claim all three points. A win would ensure their lead on top of the table at least remains the same and could be the catalyst that launches another winning streak.
