Match Day 19 – PREVIEW

Avondale are set to return to Avenger Park for the first time this month when they take on fellow top-six side Green Gully this Saturday.

The Avengers return home after enjoying a successful four game away stint – drawing once and winning their last three games.

That good run of form has seen Avondale extend their lead on top of the table to five points, but they’ll face a tricky test this week in Green Gully.

The Cavaliers sit fifth on the table and this will be the first time in six weeks that Avondale have faced another top six team.

But despite their strong ladder position Gully will enter the fixture amid a peculiar run of form – the Cavaliers are undefeated in their last four games but are winless in their last six, having drawn five and lost one.

Gully will also have to overcome some poor form against Avondale, having not beaten the Avengers since 2017.

Avondale meanwhile will be confident heading into the game, still boasting the league’s best defence and most potent offence.

The Avengers have also re-found their goal scoring form, netting at least three goals in each of their last three games. Liam Boland, Tasuku Sekiya, Stean Zinni and Matthew Reid all scored in last week’s 5-2 triumph over Pascoe Vale.

Kick off time for has been moved forward to 2:45pm to ensure there will be adequate light for the game.
