After 3 separate flights and over 3,800 km travelled, the Avengers journeyed up north on their first ever interstate match in the sunny city of Darwin.

Our Senior Men’s team battled in the twilight heat against local Millner side, Mindil Aces, in front of an energetic home crowd. The underdogs put up a great fight, but the experience and strength from the Avondale boys was too much for the Aces.

Liam Boland and his topical headgear netted home 3 classy goals, while Diaz and Berkant also added to the scoresheet. Although the match ended 6 – 0, that didn’t stop the Mindil army from cheering on. It was truely a great all round experience for both sides, demonstrating why we all love football.

The win secures Avondale their spot in the Australia Cup Round of 16 which will be drawn on the night of August 3rd. We thank everyone for their support throughout the cup and can’t wait to see more magic moving forward.
